Sherell Farmer
Executive Director
Sherell is a junior in the ILR school pursuing minors in History, Law & Society, and Inequality Studies. In addition to ULI, Sherell is also apart of Cornell's Alpha Phi Omega, the Cornell Historical Society, Black Students United Political Action Committee, Cornell Storytelling Club, Peer Review Board, and is an editor for Ezra's Archives.
Melissa Lau
Internal Affairs Chair
Melissa is a sophomore from Long Island, NY majoring in Industrial Labor Relations and pursuing a minor in Law and Society and Business. She is current serving as the Internal Affairs Chair of ULI. Outside of the Undergraduate Labor Institute she is a Student Congress Residential member, a Cornell ambassador in Big Red Ambassadors, and a member of the Conflict and Resolution club. She is interested in labor policies of foreign nations and its comparison with those found within the United States.
Hannah Young
Public Relations Chair
Hannah is a sophomore in the ILR school from Metuchen, NJ. She is interested in the impact of fast fashion and global supply chains on foreign workers. At Cornell, she is also a member of ILR Women’s Caucus and Student Government. In her free time, Hannah enjoys reading Toni Morrison and exploring Ithaca with her friends.
Polina Solovyeva
Ex-Officio
Polina Solovyeva is a Co-Founder and Ex-Officio Advisor of ULI. She is a senior in the ILR School minoring in International Trade and Development. Polina is also the ILR School Representative on Cornell's Student Assembly, Chair of the Financial Aid Review Committee, and a Research Assistant for the Scheinman Institute. Through the Undergraduate Labor Institute, she hopes to encourage conversation around and analysis of labor in the context of the current political climate. The world of work is ever-changing and ULI is there to serve as a forum for students to critique and research those changes
Richard Green
Ex-Officio
Richard Green is former Research Director and current Ex-Officio Advisor of ULI. He is a senior in the ILR School minoring in both Inequality Studies and Business. Aside from the Undergraduate Labor Institute, Richard is also currently serving as the Director Of Finance for the Black Ivy Pre-Law Society, and is part of the Cornell Concert Commission.
Amelia Flaumenhaft
Executive Director
Amelia is a junior from Long Island, NY, majoring in Industrial and Labor Relations, and pursuing minors in Inequality Studies and Law & Society. She is currently serving as one of ULI's Executive Directors. In addition to the Undergraduate Labor Institute, she gives campus tours as an Information Specialist, and is involved with the Cornell ACLU, Phi Alpha Delta pre-law fraternity, and Sigma Delta Tau.
Tairan Zhang
Managing Editor
Tairan is a freshman from Ohio majoring in Government in the College of Arts and Sciences. He is interested in researching the intersection of labor and healthcare, environmental justice, and criminal justice reform. Outside of ULI, Tairan is involved in the Cornell Symphony Orchestra, Cornell Chamber Music Ensembles, and Cornell Speech and Debate Society, in addition to being a ping-pong and tennis aficionado.
Zila Ake
Ex-Officio
Zila Ake is a Co-Founder and Ex-Officio Advisor of ULI. She is a senior in the ILR school, minoring in Business. Aside from the Undergraduate Labor Institute , she is PR Chair of Cornell Class Councils and works in the Office of Residential Life. Her aim in establishing the Undergraduate Labor Institute was to unite passionate individuals and create a platform for undergraduates to research and critique issues within labor relations. She is excited for everyone to read about these pressing and relevant issues within the workplace.
