Polina Solovyeva is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of ULI. She is a junior in the ILR School minoring in International Trade and Development. Polina is also the ILR School Representative on Cornell's Student Assembly, Chair of the Financial Aid Review Committee, and a Research Assistant for the Scheinman Institute. Through the Undergraduate Labor Institute, she hopes to encourage conversation around and analysis of labor in the context of the current political climate. The world of work is ever-changing and ULI is there to serve as a forum for students to critique and research those changes
David Leynov, a junior majoring in ILR and minoring in German Studies and History of Capitalism, is the Research Director of the ULI. David's primary interests lie in the collective representation and securing workplace democracy. He also serves as research and strategic organizer for the People's Organizing Collective / USAS Local 3, and as a policy analyst for the Cornell Roosevelt Institute. Outside of studying at "The Nell," David enjoys hiking, skiing, and playing the accordion. He hopes that the ULI will serve as a vehicle for new and innovative labor-focused policy.
Elijah Fox is a junior in the School of Industrial and Labor Relations from Brooklyn, NY. Elijah is a managing editor for ULI. At Cornell, he writes for the food and dining section of the Cornell Daily Sun and plays goalie for the Cornell water polo team. Outside of Cornell, Elijah serves as the Co-Chair of the Board Directors for Integrate NYC, a youth-led policy non-profit advocating for integration and equity in the New York City public school system.
Amelia is a sophomore from Long Island, NY, majoring in Industrial and Labor Relations, and pursuing minors in Inequality Studies and Law & Society. She is currently serving as ULI's PR Chair. In addition to the Undergraduate Labor Institute, she gives campus tours as an Information Specialist, and is involved with the Cornell ACLU, Phi Alpha Delta pre-law fraternity, and Sigma Delta Tau.
Public Relations Chair
Zila Ake is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of ULI. She is a junior in the ILR school, minoring in Business. Aside from the Undergraduate Labor Institute , she is also a member of Class Councils and works in the Office of Residential Life. Her aim in establishing the Undergraduate Labor Institute was to unite passionate individuals and create a platform for undergraduates to research and critique issues within labor relations. She is excited for this semester's publication theme - Labor and the environment.
Richard Green is a junior in the ILR School minoring in both Inequality Studies and Business. He is currently serving as one of the Managing Editors of ULI. Aside from the Undergraduate Labor Institute, Richard is also currently serving as the Director Of Finance for the Black Ivy Pre-Law Society, and is part of the Cornell Concert Commission.
Sharon is a junior from Argentina that grew up in New Jersey. At Cornell, she studies Industrial and Labor Relations with a minor in Developmental Sociology. She is serving as the Treasurer on ULI's E-Board. Aside from being apart of ULI, Sharon is involved in JDC @ Cornell and Cornell Democrats. She is also an active member of her social sorority. She has worked at an IT firm and was on the Board of Advisors for the Center for Global Responsibility. In her free time, Sharon enjoys watching the latest Game of Thrones episode, reading the latest Foreign Affairs article, and getting bubble tea with her friends.
Sherell is a sophomore in the ILR school pursuing minors in History, Law & Society, and Inequality Studies. In addition to ULI, Sherell is also apart of Cornell's Alpha Phi Omega, the Cornell Historical Society, Black Students United Political Action Committee, Cornell Storytelling Club, Peer Review Board, and is an editor for Ezra's Archives.
